Reliability Entry & Route Forms

It’s less than a week to the Sydenham reliability event, the hardest of the series (we think). Combined entry and route forms for both distances can be found below.

Enjoy!

Calorie Deficit

Anyone who is attending the club lunch this Saturday and would like to do so with a calorie deficit should be aware that Rob Royston is organising pre-eat ride with exactly that intention. Weather permitting this will start at 9:30 at the bottom of Polhill and the intended route will take in local lumps – Row Dow/One Tree/Hubbards/Toys.

New Inter-Club Competition

Over the last few years the interest in the old inter-club competition has waned within the other clubs involved. During the same time we have grown much stronger links with G.S. Avanti and now Sevenoaks Tri. For next season this has resulted in us sharing the responsibilities for organizing the time trial programme and also deciding to run a new inter-club competition between the three of us. This will be made up of 18 events (namely the 10 mile time trials). The points will be 7 points for first, 6 points for second, down to 2 for sixth and every finisher thereafter. This is an experimental set up for the first year and could change in future years.

2010 Club Events

A provisional calendar of next years events is now available on the website. Go to the ‘Events’ page and click on the ‘2010’ link at the top of the page. Its not fully confirmed yet but should be mostly correct. You will see the Events are now co promoted with two other clubs (GS Avanti & 7 Oaks Tri) with whom we will also be running an inter-club competition next year…..full details of how this competion will work inc. the points system will be posted on the website shortly.

Evening 10 Cancelled 18th June

Please note that the club time trial due to take place this coming Thursday on the East Peckham course has been cancelled due to roadworks on the course.

Cycling On TV – Not SKY

ITV4 have recently confirmed that they will be showing highlights of both the Tour Of Britain and the new Tour Series of city centre races. The programmes will be limited to highlights but will hopefully be rare source of bike race viewing pleasure for those without SKY. You can find more details on Bike Radar.

Lost Property At Reliability Ride

Following the club reliability ride on 15th Feb a couple of items of property have been recovered from the hall. If you are the owner of either a set of Bianchi water bottles or an OS map of ‘Maidstone And The Weald Of Kent’ and you would like to organise return/collection of them please contact Bob Loader on 01732 459789. If no takers have come forward within a couple of weeks the items will be disposed of.

Reliability Ride Entries

Please be aware that there is no pre-entry facility for the Sydenham Wheelers Reliability Ride on 15th Feb. Entry is ‘On The Line’ only.

TT Course Details Now On Website

Please take note, that by popular demand, details of the TT courses used for the club events are now available on this website. They can be accessed by clicking the ‘TT Courses’ link at the top of the 2009 Events page…..or just click HERE! There is still some work to do refining the descriptions and the intention is to provide maps for all of them. However whats there currently should hopefully prove useful to you.

Reliability Route Details

You may recall that last years reliability ride route was altered from the traditional route in order to avoid roadworks at Wateringbury. This year we wil be reverting back to the time honoured route. Details of both routes can be found below.

** Please note these routes were updated on 5th Feb 2009 from those previously published. This is due to a slight change made to the 64K route.
