About Us

Road Racing

The club is an affiliated member of the British Cycling Federation (BCF) and the South East Road Race League (SERRL). There is therefore a wide variety of events available throughout Kent for a large part of the year. We also run our own club road race competition which includes a club organised event on a closed circuit at the end of the year.

Time Trials

Time Trialing is probably the most well represented discipline within the club. There is a full programme of club events, including the traditional 'Evening 10' which run throughout the summer months, and 'Interclub Competitions' which are run in conjunction with other clubs in the area. You can see the calendar of club events by clicking on the 'EVENTS' button at the top of this page. We are also affiliated members of the Cycling Time Trials (CTT) the governing body for time trials in the UK and have a number of members who regularly participate in these 'Open' events. So, if 'The Race of Truth' is your thing your spoilt for choice!

Training

Training is there if you want it, in the form of club runs which take place most weekends throughout the winter. Rides, in terms of speed and routes, are adapted to suit the people who turn up on the day. With a member base of approx. 40 and a wide range of abilities there will be someone going out in a 'Chain Gang' which will give you the level of effort you are after.

Touring

Whilst the club is not an affiliated member of Audax UK there are members within the club who have affiliated independently, and recently participated in such monumentous events as Paris-Brest-Paris. There is also the annual 'Trip to the Tour' which organised by club members for club members and basically involves bikes, hotels and the Tour de France for about a week in July. This trip as become some what of a ritual for the Sydenham and is well attended each year.

Social

We don't all compete! Casual, some would say more enjoyable, cycling activities take the form of a spin around the local lanes, a hack in the woods on mountain bikes, holidays to watch the Tour de France or a ride out to watch a local event and cheer on any club members taking part. There is also a club night on last Thursday of every month at:

Bricklayers Arms
39 Chevening Rd
Chipstead
Nr Sevenoaks TN13 2RZ.
